The name of my tank is Ali Baba & The 3 Thieves. Since we're in Alpha Company, all of our tanks names have to start with the letter A. My gunner is SGT Pritsolas. It's his gun tube, so it was his right to name it. Ali Baba is what the Iraqis call the bad guys. They may not speak a lick of English, but when they get attacked, they will run up to you screaming, "Ali Baba, Ali Baba! RPG, RPG!!" and point to where some insurgents just detonated an IED or launched an RPG at somebody.
A running joke we have in my platoon(fueled by ol' hillbilly Terry) is that I'm Iraqi, even though I'm from India. Anycrap, in keeping with being politically incorrect, Ali Baba is me, and my crewmen are my 3 Thieves.
The funniest joke of all is that SSG Terry is the company EO officer. And I'm not kidding. He's the equal opportunity representative who gives us our classes and slide show presentations on sexual harrassment and discrimination quarterly. Is that ironic? I don't know.
I think that is awesome. Given how political correctness is shoved down our throats these days, I'd want to have someone like SSG Terry as my unit EO officer - someone who would obviously give real EO issues the level of 'push' it needs, but who could also care less about all the PC bullshit that has become attached to EO.
Hey, as long as there's an Equal Opportunity to blow the crap out of terrorists, SSG Terry can say any damn thing he wants. Which by the sound of things he probably would.
Keep writing, and stay safe.

Are you noticing more locals turning in the insurgents? Just wondering, after the comments you made about them running up to you shouting "Ali Babba RPG!"
I sure hope so- you guys have done such an awesome job trying to make friends with the locals. It looks like it's paying off in bad guy kill counts!
